  • Imprisonment for up to 30 days
  • A fine of $250-400
  • A minimum of 6 hours a day for 2 consecutive days in an Intoxicated Driver Resource Center
  • Insurance surcharge of $1,000 per year for up to 3 years
  • A loss of license for 3 months

Essex County DUI Second offense in New Jersey

If you are stopped for DUI within 10 years of your first stop, you may be considered a repeat offender and face more severe punishments.

  • Imprisonment for a minimum of 48 hours and up to 90 days
  • A fine of $500-1,000
  • A loss of driving privileges for 2 years
  • Detainment for 48 consecutive hours in a regional Intoxicated Driver Resource Center, at $100 a day
  • Insurance surcharge of $1,000 for 3 years

Third Offense New Jersey DUI penalties
